360 years in total for excursion vessels

Norway Yacht Charter's passenger excursion vessels, Christiania, Helena, Johanna and Jomfruen, have between them a total age of 360 years, but they have different origins. Perhaps surprisingly, the youngest of the quartet, at just 68 years old, is the elegant three-masted schooner Christiania, the largest wooden sailing vessel in Norway. She was built at Valax in Finland as Helga and took her present name in 1999. Helena was built at Moen Batbyggeri in Risor in 1946 as a wooden cargo vessel, but her conversion to an excursion ship with a spacious bar area in the stern saloon allows her to seat up to 85 guests, with a further 120 on her upper deck. Jomfruen will celebrate her centenary next year after spending the first 67 years of her career as a coastal trading vessel carrying mackerel from western Norway to the fish market in Oslo, and cement from Slemmestad back to the West Coast. She was rebuilt from 1984-88 to fit her for her current role and is designed to seat parties of up to 63 guests in a 'rustic maritime style'.
