Isle of Wight-based Boat Development Company Ltd (aka Seaward), an established builder of Seaward motor cruisers, is plotting a renaissance for Nelson workboats by re-establishing their position as the boat of choice for pilotage and harbour authorities worldwide. Seaward has been wedded to Nelson designs for many years, primarily building them as private motor yachts at its facilities in Cowes. Meanwhile, commercial production of Nelsons was traditionally led by South Coast-based Halmatic.
