As a specialist in producing bespoke waterjet solutions based on clients' individual requirements, Doen WaterJets has produced a number of new technologies, including its Direct Thrust (DT) and Integrated Waterjet (IWJ) product variants. To simplify the mechanical complexity and to further reduce the installed cost, the waterjet shaft in the DT variant is arranged to thrust directly to the gearbox as per conventional propeller arrangements. This eliminates the need for a waterjet's own thrust bearing system as well as any intermediate shafting, resulting in a simpler, cheaper and more compact product.
