Hybrid tug for San Francisco Bay

San Francisco-based operator Baydelta Maritime has nominated a hybrid power system for a new Z-drive tractor tug ordered from Nichols Brothers Boat Builders of Washington State. Due for delivery in Ql 2019, the 30.5m x 12.2m newbuild will be based on a design developed by Jensen Maritime of Seattle. Employing Rolls-Royce hybrid technology, she will be the seventh Nichols Brothers-built unit for Baydelta, but the shipyard's first hybrid tractor tug.
