The Croatian Coast Guard is planning for a new class of five patrol boats. The patrol boats have been identified as being 42 meters (137.7 feet) in length with a procurement cost of around $70 million, or $14 million per unit. The new class is expected to be indigenously built at Croatian Shipbuilding Corp. This program could begin as early as 2015. The five-unit class could be delivered by 2018. The new patrol boats are expected to displace around 220 tons (full load) and be powered by two diesel engines driving controllable-pitch propellers for a top speed of 28 knots. They will be armed with one 30mm remote weapon station and two 12.7mm machine guns. Space and weight will be made available for man-portable air-defense missiles.
