HIV-LEISHMANIA CO-INFECTION IN INDIA

摘要

Leishmaniasis and HIV are becoming major public health problems in India. Both of these diseases tend to lower the cell mediated immunity resulting in variable drug response and opportunistic infections. The diagnosis and management cost of such a disease combination is a major problem in a developing country like India. However, newer diagnostic tools like PCR and drugs like miltefosine and anti-retroviral therapy provide some hope in this direction.
