Kelvin Hughes now offers a float-free interface for its MantaDigital S-VDR and claims that it is the first manufacturer in the world to do so (SASI, September, p31). Although our April VDR feature included details of what we described as a type-approved Kongsberg float-free S-VDR which used a Jotron capsule - as does Kelvin Hughes' offering - that type-approval was in fact only for the fixed version of the unit. Jotron obtained type-approval for its capsule in August and Kelvin Hughes secured approval in the same month for its version. Kongsberg's model had completed tests and the company expected to receive approval as this issue went to press.
