No one ever said moving goods would be quiet. The logistics workplace has a relationship with noise which sets it apart from the majority of other employment locations. Warehouse staff are exposed to an excessive amount of noise pollution from vehicles, machinery and equipment, typically at 90dB and above, which is sufficient to cause hearing damage. The acoustics of vast open spaces also tend to have an amplifying effect. However, at the same time, the solution is not as easy as doling out earplugs because the employee needs to hear at least some of this noise to be aware of the risks posed by the movement of forklifts, vans and trucks.
