Text messaqinq amonqst New Zealand drivers

摘要

A recent paper in Transportation Research Part F reports results of an online survey in New Zealand of the frequency of cell phone use for text messaging while driving, and driver risk perception of such practices. Self-reported responses from 1057 participants indicate that, while a very high percentage of them agreed that text messaging impairs driving performance, more than half admitted that they often send or read text messages while driving. Younger drivers are more likely to do this but there was no gender difference in texting frequency.
