Exhaust Leak Protection System (ELPS)

The Exhaust Leak Protection System (ELPS) enables to detect any leakage along the exhaust line of a vehicle, avoiding potential un-wanted emissions of not-treated exhaust gases into the environment. It is a system/method to recognize the exhaust flow decrease along the exhaust line (1 ) due to any failure (pipe/cones, etc.) out of the DPF/SCRoF converter (2). Measurement of the exhaust flow can be achieved by means of ETV valve (3) + DP sensor (4) (instead of the only delta pressure) positioned at the end of the exhaust line (keeping the standard current functionality of LP-EGR recirculation and engine brake).
