Hinge Pin Retention Lug with Integrated Material Deflection Relief Features for Fuel Door Hinge

A fuel filler housing assembly (1) may contain a hinge (2) and hinge pin (3). The hinge (2) and hinge pin (3) will include interfacing features for retention of the pin (4&5). The pin retaining features on the hinge (5) may include local thinning of material (6) and openings in the supporting wall (7) to allow deflection of the retaining feature during installation of the hinge pin (3). The retaining features (4&5) and relief features (6&7) are not limited to the shapes shown or described and may take on shape that provides the best relief of stress during assembly.
