Seeking to make the Internet safer for children, Heps. John Shimkus (R., Ill.) and Ed Markey (D., Mass.) have introduced the Dot Kids Domain Name Act of 2001, HR 2417, which would establish a ".kids" top-level domain (TLD) for the Internet. "As the father of children who use the Internet, I want to help establish safe sites that I can trust to be free of inappropriate material," Rep. Shimkus said.
