The line between Cork and Cobh, which had been the last bastion of absolute block signalling with semaphores, was converted to track circuit block control and colour light signals during a possession from April 1-6.rnDuring the same period, the double turnout junction atrnGlounthaune for the Midleton branch was reinstated after having been reduced to a single-lead junction during the 1980s subsequent to all services on the Youghal branch being withdrawn. The new turnout connects into a new Down loop on the branch. The provision of this loop will allow for the crossing of a Down Midleton train with an Up train withoutrnaffecting the main Cork/Cobh Line.
