Class 323 overhauls started for Northern

A programme to refresh Class 323 EMUs used by Northern Rail on commuter services from Manchester has begun at Longsight Depot. All the vehicles in the 17-strong fleet are to receive replacement seat covers, new flooring and interior upgrades as part of their 'C4' and 'C6' exams. The work on each set will take around six weeks to complete, with the first to be dealt with being 323234, which has also been fitted with roller destination blinds, replacing the electronic type which it formerly had fitted.
