The nightmare scenario that faced many tour promoters of trains being cancelled by DB Schenker, often at short notice, due to lack of train crew has been addressed and a management restructure within the company means charters are back on its agenda. The company is now allocating drivers and guards to charter trains ahead of other freight work to give promoters reassurances that the trains will run. The company is also now understood to be looking to win back charter traffic and not treat it as a marginal extra. UK Raiitours' John Farrow says that "DBS has grabbed hold of the problem, and seems to be sticking to its promises," adding that he has "no issues" with the company delivering his trains.
