A ￡50m contract awarded to Bal-four Beatty by Network Rail on January 12 will see the next stage of the ￡130m rehabilitation of Edinburgh's principal station completed by 2013. Although Bal-four Beatty is the main contractor, many subcontractors will be involved.rnA major part of the work is renovation of 34 000 m~2 of the main station roof. The contractor's first task will be to construct a crash deck so that work on replacing 28 000 panes of glass can proceed without endangering passengers below.
