Quaternary of East Asia and the Western Pacific Ⅰ

摘要

East Asia and the western Pacific have been major focuses of Quaternary research. The reason for the scientific interest is the important role these regions play in the global climate and ocean system. More recently, an increasing number of studies have addressed enhancement of anthropogenic activities in the regions since the late Quaternary. The human effects and their interactions with natural environmental variability need to be evaluated for better understanding how our living environment has been modified. Reconstructions of natural variability and change during the Quaternary are essential in distinguishing human-induced from natural effects.
