For years, railroads have experimented with how to reliably and cost effectively utilize electronic communications for the delivery of movement authorities in dark territory, because of the enormous investment required to move from TWC to CTC as traffic volumes rise. During this same time, Digital Concepts has been working to make wireless dark territory a reality. Starting in 2001 with the introduction of eAX Electronic Authority Exchange for maintenance vehicles, the electronic authority capabilities of DigiCon~® have steadily expanded.
