A ground-breaking piece of music celebrating the history of engineering and composed with the support of the institution has had its world premiere in Edinburgh. The Sounds of Science is a narrative, played live using only sound, that reveals the awe-inspiring story of how humans have changed the world over the past 10,000 years. The soundscape details science and engineering discoveries ranging from fire, paper manufacturing and the steam engine to cloning and mobile phones.
