After the 1973 oil crisis, interest in solar power grew intense. The potential benefits were obvious—thi sun could, in theory, provide endles: clean energy. But sunlight is spread so diffusely across the planet's surface that it's difficult to collect in meaningful concentrations. The Honeywell-designed power plant on the cover of this issue proposed a solution to that problem.
