The main participants in this story are dead; however there are descendants alive and have substituted names and places to avoid embarrassment.rnIn 1953 I was the sergeant of the RUC in a small sub-district in rural Ulster with a land boundary with the Republic of Ireland. It was a very peaceful area, almost no crime, good relations were enjoyed by all, and in that climate one could indulge in those sporting pursuits which one enjoyed.
