As a former Chairman of council said to me recently 'Louis was Louis; he came at the right time'. Louis' term as Principal from 1978-86 was a time of whirlwind activity and transformation at the London Foot Hospital (LFH). He certain left his mark. Louis was an energetic talented friend and colleague with an outgoing sociable personality. His overseas background gave him a wider perspective on life. He had the talent of raising money, even in austere times, which led to the total upgrading of the buildings in Fitzroy Square. The redisposition of clinics and the creation of a modern purpose-built operating theatre suite lay the foundation for the provision of podiatric surgery at the LFH.
