Recent pipeline industry trends show a shift in focus from capturing Integrity Management Program (IMP) data, such as inline inspection results, CP programs, and identifying HCA locations, to how to effectively manage the data that has been collected. As part of prudent pipeline system management, operators are turning their attention to how IMP data is scrutinized and evaluated as it relates to the integrity decision making process. This, along with reviewing historical records and verifying their accuracy, is creating a data mining challenge that is proving to be difficult for many pipeline owners/operators.
