The volume originates from the forum Training translators and interpreters: New directions for the millennium held at the University of Vic (Spain) in May 1999. Following the foreword by Eugene A. Nida and introduction by Martha Tennent, the 12 contributions are grouped into three sections.rnThe first section, Training program: The current situation and future prospects, is made up of two chapters. Margherita Ulrych presents the results of a survey intended to investigate the state of the art of translator training in 41 tertiary-level institutions across Europe and North America.
