One in four risk of COPD

ONE out of every four people aged 35 and older are likely to develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) during their lifetime, according to the findings of a 14-year long Canadian study. Researchers used population based health administrative data for the entire population of Ontario (about 13 million people) to estimate the lifetime risk of developing COPD - the umbrella term for a number of lung condi tions including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
