Edison Pitch to Restart San Onofre Waste Transfer to be Discussed

A volunteer group advising Southern California Edison on the tear-down of the San Onofre nuclear power plant will meet for the first time since federal regulators blamed the utility for the near-drop of a 50-ton canister stuffed with highly radioactive waste. Protesters promise to lash Edison for repeated failures at the shuttered plant and demand, again, that highly radioactive nuclear waste be removed from the beach. Edison, meanwhile, is expected to keep the focus on changes it has made to bolster safety at San Onofre.
