Julian J Bommer holds thernposition of Professor ofrnEarthquake Risk Assessment inrnthe Department of Civil andrnEnvironmental Engineering atrnImperial College London. Hisrnresearch covers the areas ofrnearthquake ground-motionrnprediction, seismic hazardrnassessment, and the specification of earthquakesrnactions for seismic design. He has served as arnconsultant on seismic hazard analysis andrnacceleration time-history selection for severalrnengineering projects, including the expansion ofrnthe Panama Canal. A particular focus of his work isrnseismic hazard assessment for nuclear powerrnplants, including engagements in California, Centralrnand Eastern USA, South Africa, Switzerland, thernUnited Arab Emirates and the UK.
