At £65M the West Ham sewer relief project in east London is Thames Water's largest current scheme, and possibly the biggest London sewer line installation since Joseph Bazalgette's Victorian embankments. While the tunnel itself is a straightforward deep drive, its location means preparation and route selection have been almost as complex as the bore itself, which began at the end of April.
