摘要

An attempt has been made in this work to evaluate the environmental chemistry of groundwater in Mandya district, Karnataka, India. The data are subjected to various hydrogeochemical interpretations. The results show that a large number of samples have physico-chemical properties well within the permissible limits. According to USSL, the study area groundvvater falls under mainly three types i.e., C_2S_1, C_3S_1 and C_3S_2, which are suitable for irrigation of most crops, except one sample in C_3S_4. From SAR classification, 75% of the water samples are in carbonate hardness and only 25% are non-carbonate hardness. Based on Schoeller's water type classification 85% of the samples are falling under type Ⅰ and Ⅲ except only three samples in type Ⅱ. Based on Indices of base exchange character, all the samples are negative in zone except one sample.
