The ROV Manual is a 679-page reference book prepared by the authors with input from a broad network of industry specialists. This second edition is a revised and expanded version of the first, which was published in 2007 as a user guide for observation class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Ihe earlier edition provided a complete training and reference guide to the use of observation class ROVs for surveying, inspection, and research purposes. The new edition has been expanded to include nine new chapters, covering mid-size work class and special use ROVs, and adding extensive information on ROV subsystems and enabling technologies. In both editions, the authors have drawn on their extensive experience to provide advice and guidance for ROV users to achieve maximum benefit when using ROV technology, especially in deep water applications.
