ECOFRETS DELIVERED

Db schenker has begun the trial of two new Ecofret triple-platform wagons. The wagons, which were developed and produced by VTG Rail UK, recently arrived at the Port of Southampton.The layout of the wagons and the 40 foot platform length means the operator is able to maximise the number of containers that can be transported per train. The locomotive which will pull the new wagons has been fitted with auto stop-start technology. The system, manufactured by ZTR, works in a similar manner to that on a car and DBS says it has been shown in trials to reduce the amount of time the engine is running by approximately one third.
