GBRf receives first Ecofrets

GB RAILFREIGHT(GBRf) has received the first Ecofret2 triple-container intermodal wagon sets in an order for 84 triple-wagon sets placed with leasing company VTG Rail.The wagons are being built by W. H. Davis at Shirebrook in the East Midlands. The new wagons are designed to carry the 20ft and 40ft boxes common in international maritime trade.The new design has additional container mounting points on the outer platforms, meaning either two 20ft or one 40ft box can be carried on all Ecofret2platforms, giving maximum loading flexibility. Designing the platforms around these box lengths gives the potential to avoid the empty spaces often seen on older wagons designed for 60ft boxes.
