KEOLISAMEY WILL receive compensation for intellectual property as a result of the Welsh Government's decision that a subsidiary ofTransport for Wales will operate Wales and Borders train services from February. Keolis and Amey will be retained for key tasks, including Core Valley Lines modernisation, for at least five years. KeolisAmey won the 15-year Wales and Borders Operator and Development Partner (ODP) contract in June 2018, following an unusual procurement process based on 'competitive dialogue.' Key elements of the winning bid included use of tram-trains and diesel/battery/electric tri-mode units on the Core Valley Lines (CVL), with automatic switching to battery power under bridges and in Caerphilly Tunnel to reduce electrification costs.
