How long have you been in your current role? I start in April Previous key jobs: I moved about a lot at the beginning of my career. The key jobs I would pick were head of financial services at Liberata pic, where I saw how to grow a business; head of finance at city of Westminster, where I saw just how good a local authority can be; and AD for revenues and debt at Lambeth, where I learnt just how much you can change and improve performance in a year. What was your big break? My biggest break is the job I'm leaving, divisional director resources for housing regeneration and environment at Lambeth. Its a large and complex department at the sharpest end of service delivery and shaping the borough. The job covers finance, business planning, HR etc so you are the heart of the council's policy and strategy formation as well as the day to day rush of events. This is as well as the exposure the role gives you to the local and, often, national political process.
