The end of the milk quota regime will release the brake on the dairy industry across Europe, according to Dairy UK. Addressing the Agra Europe Outlook 2009 Conference in London on 11 March, Jim Begg, Director General of Dairy UK, said: "Quotas actually stop the EU dairy industry growing when demand in the rest of the world is growing. They stop good, efficient individual farms from growing and they impose huge costs on the industry, through administration, trading and regulatory issues.
