One of the first things I learned during my tour of duty with the 236th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance) in Da Narig, South Viet-Nam, from 10 July 1969-10 July 1970, was that many days and missions would be reminiscent of the Wild West on steroids. During these moments as a "Dust OS" helicopter pilot, things were as easy, safe and pleasurable as attempting to take cobras or rattlesnakes for walks.
