Networked Simulation: Training Soldiers in Synthetic Reality

Military training applications empowered by networked technologies are integral to the support of real-world operations. Networked simulation may be distinguished from other categories of modelling and simulation (M&S) in that users can immersively interact in synthetic battlespace. Networked nodes, such as training simulators, can be linked in a distributed wide area broadband network, enabling high-speed, high-bandwidth interaction between complex simulators. This enhances real-time replication of a broad range of sensory inflow encountered in actual combat missions, including visual and auditory stimuli.
