World War II unit histories are seldom as exciting as Hell Hawks! - the dramatic account of the U.S. Army Air Force's 365th Fighter Group and its 18 months of nonstop aerial combat over Western Europe from 1944-45. The authors tell of the pilots and ground crews who operated the P-47 Thunderbolt, a sturdy, heavily armed fighter-bomber nicknamed the Jug, as they shot down German planes and dive-bombed and strafed enemy tanks, trucks, trains, troops, artillery, bridges, and barges, striking terror in the Wehr-macht's infantrymen and panzer crews.
