摘要

These were the first words I learnt when I enrolled in the Medical Peace Work (MPW) online course back in 2014. Back then I had no idea that I would be speaking to students and young people from around the world on what it means to have peace, how to preserve it and how to spread it to others. The course empowered me with a conceptual understanding of the fabric of society. The fabric that needs to be knitted from scratch, strand by strand, pattern by pattern. The young generation cannot (maybe should not) be allowed to grow up in the current tattered world we are luckily surviving in. Frankly, a world with nuclear weapons is one we can only be grateful to be alive in, day by day. The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear weapons (ICAN) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017 for its role in highlighting the humanitarian consequences of these planet-wiping nukes. It is because of this sorry state of affairs that we continue speaking against nuclear weapons to everyone in the world.
