Delivered by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. to Canada Maritime Service Limited of the U.K. for operation under the U.K. flag, Canmar Venture is a 4,100 TEU containership that features eighteen bays with seventeen hatches and three panel hatch covers in way of each cargo hold (except hatches Nos. 1 and 16). The holds are equipped with cell guides and support structures for the carriage of eleven rows and eight tiers of 20 ft ISO containers in Bays No. 1 and No. 3 and 40 ft boxes in other bays. The depths of the holds are suitable for six tiers of 8 ft 6 in containers and two tiers of 9 ft 6 in high containers. Containers on deck are generally carried in thirteen rows with three or four tiers; hatch covers, deck support and lashing points are arranged for 20 ft and 40 ft containers, One hundred units of 45 ft containers are arranged on the hatch cover from the second tier on the deck aft of the accommodations. There are 250 electrical sockets for the carriage of 220 FEU refrigerated units on deck and 30 FEU with a height of 9 ft 6 in in the hold, with an additional 50 sockets in the holds for flexibility in loading. Main propulsion power is by an MAN B&W 8K90MC diesel delivering 49,680 hp at 104 rpm directly coupled to an Ice Class 1C strengthened fixed pitch propeller.
