Ferry operators in search of a new high-speed, cost efficient and environmentally friendly ferry are in luck. Shipyards like Australia's Aust-al and Incat Crowther have been busy designing and constructing the next generation of high-speed ferries with the passenger, environment and operational costs in mind.rnKnown for its high-speed aluminum ferries, Austal has completed work on its latest high-speed ferry, a 102 m trimaran. The new ferry, currently up for sale at its Western Australia shipyard, was built on spec and is based on Aus-tal's second generation trimaran hull form, previously used on the Benchijigua Express operated by Spain's Fred. Olsen S.A. and the U.S. Navy's LCS USS Independence.
