During the 1980s Maerkisches Werk GmbH (MWG) developed the Turnomat principle for four stroke engines with the aim of increasing the service life of valves and extending the time between overhauls. More than two decades have now elapsed since the first Turnomat valve rotator was installed, and the innovation is widely viewed as having brought about a major advance in four stroke engine maintenance thanks to its ability to deal with poor fuel quality, higher burning temperatures, and the drive to reduce NOx emissions. MWH is now looking to replicate this success for two-strokes, but what are the prospects of success?
