Lube module — fit for purpose?

The Type 45 will be the first all electric frontline destroyer in the world. The power generation and propulsion systems are integrated along the lines of a power station, with electrical power being provided to both the ship and 20MW propulsion motors through an integrated high voltage system. The lube systems onboard evolved through several stages of development. The original intention was to provide a self-contained module comprising a suitably baffled reservoir (with all the equipment mounted on it) to accommodate deviations of pitch and roll, a local control panel and emergency stop facilities on each of the two pumps incorporated into the design.
