Waiting on the world to change

August 20th marked the day that the paper tiger of the Maritime Labour Convention made the leap off the page and in to the working world. The convention, which sets out 68 global labour stan- dards, arms seafarers with the tools to ensure that their living and working conditions are both supportive and standardised - albeit stopping short of setting a minimum wage (this is left to the auspices of flag states and the JMC).
