To evaluate the influence and effect of pre-embedded phase-change materials (PCMs) on the interior temperature rise in mass concrete, a semi-adiabatic device was used to measure the temperature changes against time in cement paste, mortar and concrete that contained different contents of PCMs. The interior maximum adiabatic temperature rise of concrete with pre-embedded PCMs was calculated based on the relation between cement hydration heat, latent heat and specific heat of PCMs in different phases. The results showed that the reduction of adiabatic temperature increased and the temperature peak was delayed as the pre-embedded PCM content was increased. Consequently, the curve of the semi-adiabatic temperature became smooth. Moreover, the reduction of the interior temperature rise increased as the cement proportion in concrete increased.
