ExxonMobil jumped into the recent rash of Group Ⅰ plant closings, shutting down its Beaumont, Texas, refinery in 2Q 2016. This knocked out 10,000 b/d of Group Ⅰ capacity. Several shake-ups were seen among rerefiners trying to weather the storm of low crude oil prices. Vertex sold the Bango rerefinery to Safety-Kleen, and Universal Lubricants carved out its rerefining arm as RS Used Oil Services.
