This book grew out of the ESL and Applied Linguistics Professional Series, of which Eli Hinkel is the Editor. It is based on the first author's research project in the Hong Kong context. The title of the book is evocative of the live discussion on native speakerism, a concept that is closely related to the contemporary phenomenon of English as an international language and the teaching of English speakers of other languages.
