The author of the article (Stakhiv, 2011) should be commended for bringing a complex subject of current interest down to earth and offer a pragmatic focus with important recommendations. In essence Stak-hiv's article emphasizes the need for "robust decision making" water management approach designed to accommodate the various uncertainties involved including those related to climate variability and change. The approach would involve among other elements "a new family of hydrologic techniques for risk, reliability, and uncertainty analysis that could be used for emerging aspects of climate uncertainty."
