摘要

Since its initial report in 1928,the Diels-Alder reaction has provided the foundation for some of the most impressive achievements in the area of natural product synthesis,and much is known about the factors controlling the regioselectivities and stereochem-ical outcomes of inter- and intramolecular [4+2] cycloadditions.2 Our laboratory was inspired to contribute a new modification to this well-studied process when we encountered the general structural type 5 in the course of a natural product synthesis (Scheme 1).
