Phospholipids are amphiphilic molecules that self-assemble into vesicles when dispersed into aqueous environments.In nature,large lipid vesicles function as membranes in biological cells to protect the intracellular components from the extracellular environment,and small lipid vesicles (nanometers in size)function to transport biomolecules intracellularly.
